Role Overview:  

The Digital Communication Officer at Amnesty International Thailand (AITH) is responsible for leading digital communications and growth initiatives across multiple digital channels, including websites, social media, email, and SMS. In partnership with the Public Relations and Communications Manager, this role involves strategizing and executing digital and communication plans that support AITH’s core campaigns, thematic projects, and other initiatives. Key responsibilities include managing AITH's digital presence, optimizing campaigning opportunities, and developing a cohesive content strategy in line with AITH's branding. 

The Digital Communication Officer is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of AITH's digital roadmap, ensuring its effective implementation, and maintaining the digital infrastructure's security and flexibility. Utilizing extensive expertise in digital communications, campaigning, fundraising, and project management, the role focuses on creating engaging content, fostering supporter engagement, and promoting the AITH brand. 
 

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities: 

Digital Works 

  • Develop and implement a social media strategy that aligns with AITH’s organizational communications strategy; in collaboration with the Public Relations and Communications Manager, lead the strategic development of the digital roadmap and execute the digital communications strategy for the organization.  
  • Advise on, procure, and produce digital solutions for internal clients, including managing day-to-day operations of any third-party suppliers contracted for development projects. 
  • Increase engagement by planning compelling, user focused content, and be responsible for the overall development of content, tone of voice, and quality control of all the organization’s digital presences.  
  • Manage technical solutions, site architecture, design, and security. 
  • Ensure the website’s infrastructure meets the organization’s needs. 
  • Maintain the organization’s digital platforms to be available, current. and relevant, adhering to agreed turnaround times. 
  • Ensure all digital presences of the organization conform to accessibility, usability, search engine optimization best practices, and adhere to the organization’s data integrity and security standards. 
  • Act as a strategic advisor in larger campaign planning, generating ideas to engage and mobilize supporters. 
  • Stay informed about the organization’s campaigns and community activity in the context of broader human rights developments.  
  • Liaise with the International Secretariat and the Amnesty movement internationally to ensure integration and shared learning.  
  • Investigate new technologies for the continuous improvement of the organization’s digital offerings.  
  • Develop content about Amnesty International (AI) on its digital platforms, ensuring posted information is relevant, engaging, and current.  
  • Promote AI’s news and media commentary online. 
  • Write interesting and effective media materials, including op eds and feature articles.  
  • Develop targeted social media campaigns with the Communication team to enhance AITH’s profile, highlight events, and commemorate milestone day; strategically package and promote AITH’s activities and learning. 

Communications Works 

  • Collaborate with the team to develop and achieve team objectives and plans; provide support, and take a lead role where necessary, in developing high-quality communications content for both external and internal use. 
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising and Growth Team and Campaign teams optimize strategies for supporter recruitment and retention, understanding supporter needs and translating them into effective digital solutions, while analyzing fundraising activities to generate ideas that maximize income through digital channels. 
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising and Growth Team and Campaign teams to ensure the communications activities calendar is constantly updated and utilized for weekly planning in consultation with the Program and Policy Manager. 
  • Ensure the development and dissemination of high-quality content for both internal and external monthly newsletters. 
  • Develop specific content for external use as required. 
  • Provide editorial support to web-content development. 
  • Assist the Campaign team in identifying and developing effective messages, framing, and delivery methods to achieve communication objectives. 
  • Ensure that planning and implementation of PR activities are carried out by agreed deadlines, securing positive coverage in target media. 
  • Undertake any other relevant duties or projects as delegated by the manager, consistent with the responsibilities of the role. 

 

Person Specification

Education & certifications:   Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, media journalism, and other related discipline is required.

Essential experience 

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in media relations and various aspects of communications work.  
  • Experience in a creative public relations or marketing role is desirable. 
  • Experience in information management, or graphic design, preferably in complex crisis.  
  • Experience in planning, managing, and upgrading an organization’s website. 
  • Experience of coordinating the work of different team, settle up process, implementing change and understanding conflicting priority to deliver communication solution and of collaborative working especially under pressure.  
  • Experience of effective management of resource.  
  • Experience of negotiation and ability to communicate effectively within a large and culturally diverse organization 

Essential knowledge

  • Good understanding of traditional and digital communications and how to harness it, as well as experience in evaluating success using online evaluation platforms.   
  • Experience managing social media channel and ability to analyze social media content.   
  • Knowledge of content platforms, media organization and latest digital trend.   
  • Experience in developing content for use across multiple digital channels language and territories.   
  • Sound understanding of human rights

Essential skills and abilities 

  • Skill in translating technical information into creative products. 
  • Skills in data visualization and information design. 
  • Excellent IT knowledge and skills, and preferably with graphic designing knowledge and skills   
  • Proficiency in design and publishing software. (InDesign/Photoshop/Canva).   
  • High-level English editorial/writing skills. 
  • Journalistic, Thai editorial and copywriting
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.

  • Self-management skills, including the ability to work on own initiatives with minimum supervision and stay focused on tasks.
