The role of women as mothers is globally regarded as those who give lives and protect their own offspring.

Reacting to the Bangkok South Criminal Court’s guilty verdict against Andy Hall, a British migrant rights worker, Amnesty International said:

On 17th September 2016, Amnesty International Thailand members and activists held an activity entitled “This Weekend, Take Your Love Ones and Get to Know Refugees” in order to exchange experience and learn about “refugees”. This activity was held worldwide to celebrate the “Refugee Week” of Amnesty, raise the awareness and call on the world to assist refugees. This activity was held at State Railway Public Park, Bangkok in order to reach more new-generation people and families.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had proposed a Global Compact on Refugees that would have asked governments to commit to welcoming 10% of the world’s refugees annually.

Amnesty reaffirms its position and expresses concern about “the draft amendment to the Computer Act” hoping that it is in accordance with the human rights standards and international law, as well as watching the commission amend Section 14(1).

Amnesty sent the sealed letter to the Prime Minister of Thailand expressing the concern about human rights prior to the referendum to be held on 7th August, as well as publishing the report on restriction of freedom since the coup in 2014.

The Thai authorities must immediately drop the criminal investigation against three of the country’s most prominent human rights activists, including the chair of Amnesty International Thailand, who could be charged today for documenting and publishing a report about torture by Thai security forces, the organization warned.

Every time violence breaks out such as assaulting a disabled man to death, raping, etc., it always accelerate the social trend to impose the death penalty on offenders always, as it is believed that they deserve the capital punishment and that if the capital punishment is effective, such offenses will not be committed. However, due to the international research, it clearly shows that the death penalty has no connection with the increase or decrease of the crime.

The conversation topic ‘Refugees’ Life in the City’ started after the end credit of the movie ‘The Good Lie’ ended. The discussion was held the Coalition for the Rights of Refugees and Stateless Persons (CRSP), Asylum Access Thailand and Amnesty International Thailand along with Thapanee Aiadsrichai, the Media for Human Rights Award winning correspondent, as the moderator.
