Amnesty International provides this submission to the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committee (the Committee) in advance of the examination of the second periodic report of Thailand at the 119th session of the Committee scheduled for March 2017. The submission features information in relation to Amnesty International’s research on torture and other ill-treatment as well as restrictions on the rights to freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly.

Amnesty International Thailand held the 2017 annual general meeting on 1st July in order to present the performance of the previous year, elect the new board of directors and approve the change of adjustment of membership fees and budget, and update the performance progress of Amnesty Thailand so that the members could acknowledge and determine the future human rights works. This year, the members exercised their rights to elect the board of directors and a treasurer, which were 3 positions in total substituting the vacating directors. The individuals newly elected to be the directors are Khun Apichat Pongsawat and Khun Parit Ratanakul Seriroengrit, with 37 and 22 votes, respectively. The meeting approved Mr. Ekachai Pinkaew as the treasurer of Amnesty Thailand.
