INTERNSHIP TITLE: Campaign Intern
PROGRAMME: Public Campaign
SUPERVISOR: Campaign Officer
CONTRACT LENGTH: You’ll join us for a period of at least six (6) months and receive appropriate development support during your time here.
INTERNNSHP PURPOSE: This internship will provide you with a unique opportunity to participate in a variety of projects and initiatives across the public campaign Directorate. Day-to-day training and mentorship will be provided and you will also have the opportunity to participate in Directorate training, workshops and meetings.
DEPARTMENT PURPOSE: Public Campaign is a face to the public of all Amnesty Thailand’s campaigns. Communicating with large public audience, public campaign team will gather information from the rights holders, and communicate to the public. Advocating for international standards, it is also the place to advocate to civil societies in all levels, as well as engaging with authorities to uphold their responsibilities
Public campaign works under larger campaign team which also includes Policy & Advocacy, and Activism and Human rights education. Public campaign also needs to work across the department such as Communication Department, Growth & Mobilisation Department, and Digital Fundraising Team.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Key relationships: Working with campaign team to learn, assist the team. Working with other interns to understand the role of Amnesty as a campaign organization in Thailand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist and support public campaign team in planning strategy and activities
- Assist and support in monitoring human rights situation; researching, collecting campaign related information; digest and analyze human rights situation in Thailand for campaigning purpose
- Assist and support in executing activities both online and offline.
- Assist and support campaign team in translation, and administrative work
- Design, plan, execute intern project which should be completed at the end of their internship
OUTCOME: WHAT WILL YOU HAVE DONE AT THE END OF THE PLACEMENT?
What knowledge will the intern have gained?
- The intern will gain understanding of how civil society, human rights organization operated as a part of stakeholders in order to campaign for human rights standards. Intern will gain the deeper understanding on the complexity of human rights work in Thailand, and able to map out the situation of human rights in Thailand to the region and to the world
- Intern will be able to learn international human rights standards in practice from mobilization and organistaion. Intern will be able to try to design the work and understand the teamwork of the team
- Intern will be able to learn campaigning theory and practice to advocate to other civil societies, activists, human rights defenders and government.
What projects would they be exposed to?
- Protect the Protest Campaign: Protest observation, criminalization, use of force
- Stop torture and enforced Disappearance: Working with rights holders and partners to make sure that existing laws is being used effectively, campaign on the transitional justice, and advocate for further upholding international standards
- Regional and Global Solidarity: Myanmar, China and Write for Rights
- Intersectionality: LGBTIQA+, indigenous rights
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR?
- Knowledge: No working experience is required to apply for Amnesty international. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit both ways during your internship.
- Skills and Competencies: Examine economic, political, social, ecological, and esthetic relationships and their influences; The ability to critique work and understand the relevance in addressing current issues and problems; The ability to synthesize and make connections between aspects of international human rights standards and with outside disciplines;
- Attitude: Open to learning, communicative, adaptable to situation, and willing to share feedbacks and receive feed back
- Languages For this internship fluency in Thai is required, Fluent or communicational in English is desirable.
- Assessment Incomplete applications/personal history profiles (PHPs) will not be reviewed. Amnesty Thailand staff will directly contact short-listed applicants for an interview.
For this reason, in the application cover letter it is important that you:
- Specify your general interest in Amnesty Thailand, including in the human rights issues, including their political, ethnic, racial, gender equality and socio-economic dimensions and, particularly in the work of the above mentioned campaigns;
- Indicate the scheduled graduation for university study currently underway or more or actual graduation date for recently obtained degree;
- Indicate information technology (IT) skills and programmes in which you are proficient; -Specify your period of availability and earliest commencement date;

- Under internship policy, the remuneration is 6,000 THB per month, Room rental 3,000 THB, phone bills with actual cost not over 500 THB, travel expenses, perduim for work, and well-being expenses.
- To make sure that applicants who lives outside is able to join the experience at the office in Bangkok, the office is willing to support a small amount of housing cost
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
- Public or other activity, affiliation to or support for any group or organization, personal
- association or other factor which may generate a real or perceived conflict of interest with Amnesty International’s principles (specifically independence and impartiality), or raise a security concern, or otherwise prevent the candidate from carrying out key functions of the specific post and would therefore disqualify the candidate from being appointed.
