{"id":2222,"date":"2022-02-25T07:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-25T00:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amnesty.or.th\/en\/press-release-on-human-rights-media-awards-2021\/"},"modified":"2024-11-11T13:48:53","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T06:48:53","slug":"press-release-on-human-rights-media-awards-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amnesty.or.th\/en\/news\/2022\/02\/press-release-on-human-rights-media-awards-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Press release on Human Rights Media Awards 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On February 24, 2022, Amnesty International Thailand announced the winners and hosted a ceremony to confer&nbsp;<strong>\u201cHuman Rights Media Awards 2021\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;at Lunar Room, 10th floor, AVANI Riverside Bangkok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards are divided into outstanding media on human rights in the category of printing, online news and feature stories, broadcast news and feature stories, news and feature stories via TV shows, news and feature stories via online video clips, and photos titled&nbsp;<strong>\u201cLife amidst Covid-19 crisis through human rights lens\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;for youth and general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ms. Thitirat Thipsamritkul<\/strong>, Chair of AIT\u2019s Board of Directors, reveals that media functions like the \u201ccandlelight\u201d which illuminates human rights issues to become more visible in our society and invite us to nurture mutual respect. It is therefore important to give moral support to media who have been working hard to disseminate news to nurture respect, promote and protect human rights.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hence, the Media for Human Rights Award Ceremony is being organized to raise social awareness on the significant role of media as a frontline leading the discussion of human rights issues and to show solidarity with the media so that they stand strong in their fight to uphold and promote human rights. Amnesty International Thailand has been calling on all sectors to respect the role of media and to ensure they receive protection and are free from intimidation and harassment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chair of AIT\u2019s Board of Directors further said that the award jury for the&nbsp;<strong>Human Rights Media Awards 2021<\/strong>&nbsp;is composed of experts from mass media and human rights.
