{"id":1972,"date":"2020-01-22T15:58:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-22T08:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amnesty.or.th\/en\/winners-of-media-awards-2019-amnesty-international-thailand\/"},"modified":"2024-11-11T10:56:44","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T03:56:44","slug":"winners-of-media-awards-2019-amnesty-international-thailand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amnesty.or.th\/en\/news\/2020\/01\/winners-of-media-awards-2019-amnesty-international-thailand\/","title":{"rendered":"Winners of Media Awards 2019  Amnesty International Thailand"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Amnesty International Thailand organized the 2019 Media Awards on&nbsp;Wednesday 22<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;January 2020&nbsp;between<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>13:30 hr.&nbsp;<\/strong>and<strong>&nbsp;16:00 hr.<\/strong>at the&nbsp;<strong>Galaxy 1 Room, 10<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;Floor,&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>the<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;AVANI<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Riverside Bangkok<\/strong>.&nbsp;The&nbsp;four&nbsp;award categories were:&nbsp;print media; online media; television (long reports); and television (short reports).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Somchai Homla-or<\/strong>, adviser to Amnesty International, explained that the event was organized out of respect for the role of the media in observing human rights principles and creating awareness of human rights in society.&nbsp;The event honours and supports the media by presenting awards for work that not only protects and respects but also promotes human rights.&nbsp;The event also encourages the media to continue presenting stories relating to human rights issues and universal human values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Somchai<\/strong>&nbsp;noted that the judging panel for the awards brings together leading experts on human rights and media issues.&nbsp;The winners of the Media Awards 2019 are as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the&nbsp;report and feature story&nbsp;in the print<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>media<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>category,<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>an honourable mention with a plaque and 10,000 baht prize was given to Sarakadee Magazine for its feature story&nbsp;\u201c<strong>Unbizarre society, the non-existence of the disabled population\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the&nbsp;report and feature story&nbsp;in the online&nbsp;media&nbsp;category, a plaque and 30,000 baht prize were awarded for the article \u201c<strong>The forgotten Thai workers in Israel\u201d<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>to&nbsp;the BBC Thai&nbsp;website; and to 101.world website for \u201c<strong>The faceless country, the landless people and the endeavour to reinstate humanity through the meaning of \u201cnation\u201d<\/strong>.
