for Supporting Same-Sex Marriage Legislation

7 June 2017

The Taiwanese government submitted the letter thanking Amnesty Thailand for supporting the same-sex marriage legislation in Taiwan.

Liu Jian-Shin, Acting Secretary to the President of Taiwan, submitted the letter to Amnesty International Thailand thanking Amnesty Thailand for the enthusiastic support in passing the same-sex marriage legislation.

The letter referred to the same-sex marriage in Taiwan as the issue with split votes causing a number of debates and attracting international attention. The government insisted that it would listen to both sides with reasons.

Amnesty International Thailand submitted the letter to the President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-Wen last April 2017 claiming the Taiwanese authority to accelerate the process of legalizing same-sex marriage.
