Amnesty and PSU Pattani Team Up in Holding “Human Rights Study”

Amnesty International Thailand has signed the cooperation with the Faculty of Political Science, PSU Pattani, to hold the human rights study in order to generate knowledge and understanding and promote and strengthen human rights activities in the area.

Asst. Prof. Chidchanok Rahimula, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus and Mrs. Piyanuch Kotsan, Director of Amnesty International Thailand signed the cooperation to promote knowledge and understanding about human rights for one year.

Amnesty Thailand aims to create activists to support the human rights campaigns in Thailand, specifically promoting the “human rights study” so that students can learn practically and are ready for human rights works.

Over the past years, the students at PSU Pattani have been interested and alert in participating in human rights promotion activities. Amnesty Thailand, therefore, saw the significance of promoting and strengthening the students’ activities so that it can be a guideline to create potential for other groups of activists in the future. 

 

In order to fulfil the objectives of the memorandum of cooperation, Amnesty Thailand and PSU Pattani are to jointly host the following:


1) human rights classroom which is part of the Human Rights Study subject and other related subjects.


2) Human Rights Week to address the human rights issues to university students and general people at PSU Pattani.


3) promote and develop knowledge and understanding about human rights including tools for doing activities for Amnesty activists, which are in an independent group under the Faculty of Political Science.


4) promote knowledge and understanding about human rights in Amnesty Thailand Campaigns for fellow activists of the Faculty of Political Science.


5) encourage interested students to take internship with Amnesty Thailand.


6) promote experience exchange among activists in certain areas.

This cooperation is also joined by Professor Fisol Daah, Acting Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperative Studies, the  Faculty of Political Science, PSU Pattani, Mrs. Anthina Saengchai, Board of Director of Amnesty Thailand and Mr. Muhammadmumin Muna, the south activist coordinator from Amnesty Thailand.
